Golf stance tips
The golf stance is part of the pre-shot routine, which also includes alignment, address position and posture. The correct stance is a very important part of building solid fundamentals.
Alignment
It is critical that I align my body and aim my clubface correctly in relation to the target. A good golf swing is wasted if it is aimed incorrectly, as the ball will only end up away from the line of target.

1. I stand about five feet behind the golf ball and select a spot on the target line (an imaginary line that connects the golf ball to my intended target) no more than a few feet in front of the ball.2. When I have selected my spot (a piece of grass standing up for example), I walk up to the ball with my eyes looking at that spot. I then place the clubface behind the golf ball, so it faces my selected spot and then make sure that it is also square to my target. 3. I make sure to keep looking at the target as I set my feet, hips and shoulders parallel to the target line.
Address Position
A proper stance helps me to maintain good balance throughout my swing.

1. I stand up to the ball with my ankle joints under my shoulders.2. I try to distribute the weight evenly between the heels and the balls of my feet. 3. My weight is evenly balanced between my right and left foot.
Posture
Good posture is key for producing consistent, quality golf shots.

1. I push my hips back and tilt forward from my hips, until the bottom of my sternum (bone connecting my ribs in the centre of my chest) points at the ball.2. I tilt my spine away from the target, so my trail (right) shoulder is slightly lower than my target (left) shoulder.
